Analyst Mingo breaks down the Oaks field, crowning Laughter Lines as the generation's best while questioning if Oka Sho winner Star Anise can handle the 2400m distance jump.

Laughter Lines (Projected 2nd Favorite)\n\n● Reasons for Recommendation Detailed explanation below\n\n1. Declared the generation's strongest filly earlier than anyone else\n2. All 4 previous races showed top-tier performance\n3. Perfect stage setting and the ideal outermost draw\n\n——————————————————————\n\n◎ 18. Laughter Lines\n\nThe strongest filly of the generation is Laughter Lines.\n\nThis is something I, Mingo, have been saying since last autumn, earlier than anyone else.\n\nThose who have followed my X account since the beginning know just how much I believe in Laughter Lines' potential.\n\nThere are many races to back this up, but the primary evidence is her maiden win four starts ago.\n\nIn that race, Laughter Lines recorded a winning time of 1:46.0.\n\nTo put that in perspective, only six horses in history have won a 2-year-old 1800m turf race at Tokyo in under 1:46.9 while recording the fastest final 3F.\n\nEvery single horse on that list besides Laughter Lines has become a G1 winner.\n\n———\n● Tokyo Turf 1800m | 2yo | Winning Time < 1:46.9 | Fastest Final 3F\n\nLaughter Lines 👈 NEW\nContrail | 5 G1 Wins\nEquinox | 6 G1 Wins\nCroix du Nord | 2 G1 Wins\nMasquerade Ball | 1 G1 Win\nWagnerian | 1 G1 Win\n———\n\nLooking at these names, it's clear she is a protagonist for the Filly Classics.\n\nBecause expectations were so high, her loss in the Koyamaki Sho two starts ago was a shock. However, analyzing the details shows her evaluation shouldn't drop at all.\n\nThe first 1000m of that mile race was a staggering 63.2 seconds—an exceptionally slow pace. Furthermore, the track favored inner-draw front-runners. Laughter Lines trailed at the very back and had to circle the widest part of the turn—the worst possible tactical position. Despite a blistering final 2F of 10.9-11.0, she surged from the back to finish 3rd, only 0.2s behind. It was a clear jockey error, and if anything, it raised her stock.\n\nThen came the Kisaragi Sho, where I confidently picked her against the colts. She finished 3rd but with no time difference to the winner, despite a fatal late start and losing ground switching lanes in the stretch. It was essentially a winning performance. The horses she beat there have since proven their worth.\n\n———\n● Kisaragi Sho | Horses 7th or lower at the 4th corner and their subsequent results:\n3rd | Laughter Lines | Flora S (1st)\n6th | Go Into Sky | Aoba Sho (1st)\n7th | Lobel Kranz | NHK Mile Cup (4th)\n———\n\nBeating Go Into Sky (who won the Aoba Sho in fast time) by 0.3s despite a bad start proves her ability transcends the filly category.\n\nIn her last start, the Flora S, she won as my top pick. Despite the slow pace favoring front-runners, she swept past them. While the winning time was average due to the pace, her closing speed was historic.\n\n———\n● Tokyo Turf 2000m | 3yo | Win Margin > 0.1s | Time < 1:59.9 | Final 3F in 32s\n\nLaughter Lines 👈 NEW\nEquinox | 6 G1 Wins\nDurezza | 1 G1 Win\nMasquerade Ball | 1 G1 Win\n———\n\nOnly four 3-year-olds in history have achieved these stats at Tokyo 2000m. Laughter Lines is the first filly ever to do it. The field she beat was also high-level, including record-holders like Enne and Realize Luminous.\n\nHeading into her G1 debut at 2400m, the key is settling and exploding in the stretch. For a horse with her closing speed, there is no better stage. The outermost draw (Gate 18) is actually a plus because her only weakness is the start; being the last to load minimizes that risk. I expect her to sweep the field from the outside.\n\n——————————————————————\n\n○ 13. Enne\n\nA talent that reached the Oaks in just two career starts. Both races were exceptional. Her maiden win against colts was won by 0.3s in 1:45.8—the second-fastest maiden time in Hanshin 1800m history.\n\n———\n● Hanshin Turf 1800m | Maiden | Winning Time Ranking\n🥇 | Realize Luminous | Flora S (3rd)\n🥈 | Enne | Flora S (2nd) 👈 NEW\n🥈 | Admirable | Aoba Sho (1st), Derby (2nd)\nEnne was the only one doing it on debut\n———\n\nIn the Flora S, she finished 2nd to Laughter Lines despite a wide draw and a slow pace favoring the inside. Her stamina and ability to settle suggest 2400m will be a welcome change. The only concern is her lack of experience in traffic, but her talent is undeniable.\n\n——————————————————————\n\n▲ 10. Star Anise\n\nThe biggest question mark of the Oaks. Her potential is massive, having dominated the Oka Sho field. Her 2-year-old times were comparable to G3 graded winners like Namura Clair.\n\nHowever, the jump to 2400m is a major hurdle. Her pedigree (Drefong x Daiwa Major) suggests a lack of stamina for this distance. Historically, winners of high-speed Oka Sho races (like Sodashi) often struggle with the 800m extension of the Oaks. \n\nThat said, unlike Sodashi who won from the front, Star Anise won the Oka Sho from 9th place with the fastest closing speed. Historically, fillies who win the Oka Sho from that far back have a perfect record in the Oaks (besides Harp Star's shoe issue). I'm betting on her absolute class to overcome the distance deficit.\n\n——————————————————————\n\nLongshot 17. Sweet Happiness\n\nThe most promising horse among the Oka Sho losers. The mile was clearly too short for her. Her Elfin S performance put her in the same statistical bracket as Vodka and Daring Tact. With no issues settling and a sharp turn of foot, the Oaks distance and the wide Tokyo track are perfect for her. She is the best value bet here.\n\n——————————————————————\n\n☆ 12. Dream Core\n\nA horse that completely changed my evaluation this year. Her Queen Cup win was elite, matching times set by G1 winners like Embroidery and Major Emblem. She comes from a late-blooming lineage (Normcore, Chrono Genesis) and is physically maturing. While she failed in the Oka Sho due to a bad start and track bias, a return to the left-handed Tokyo track makes her a dangerous bounce-back candidate.\n\n——————————————\n\nActual betting tickets will be posted at 14:30 on race day. Follow for updates.\n\n● Oaks Final Conclusion\n\n◎ 18. Laughter Lines\n○ 13. Enne\n▲ 10. Star Anise\nLongshot 17. Sweet Happiness\n☆ 12. Dream Core\n△ 3, 5, 14\n\n—————————
