This release comes with a set of built-in capabilities for everyday work and development, so the tools you need most are ready from the start. We’ve added a new plugin management feature and more flexible configuration options, making it easier to extend Harness and shape it around the way you work.

A smoother experience for everyday work and development
We’ve improved how DeepSeek Harness displays files, previews content, and presents code changes. We’ve also made scheduled tasks easier to set up and manage, with multiple preview styles that help you follow progress, understand each step, and troubleshoot issues.

You can send DeepSeek Harness documents, spreadsheets or PDFs, and ask it to organize information, analyze data, generate charts, or create slides. You can also ask it to make changes to your project, run code, and help with development tasks.

Generated files and code changes will appear in the conversation. You can use the right-hand sidebar to preview files, inspect code, and review changes, then ask DeepSeek Harness to make any adjustments. You can also open files in your local apps for further editing.

This release also introduces Automation Task, a plugin for scheduling recurring work. Enable it in the Plugins panel whenever you need it. From there, you can review run history, adjust how often tasks repeat, and update task instructions.

You also have more control over how much detail you see during the conversation, including how agent steps are displayed and how much information is shown for different features. Choose the style that fits the way you like.
Customize your own harness with plugins
DeepSeek Harness is built around one simple idea: everything is a plugin. From a single tool to the entire product interface, plugins let you add and combine capabilities to make the product fits the way you work.
With the new plugin manager, you can install a plugin by entering its package name, without using terminal commands. You can also disable or uninstall plugins, read their descriptions, and see where they come from, all in one place.

In the experimental creator mode, you can just describe what you need and let DeepSeek Harness create or configure plugins for you. The plugins you create are available immediately, automatically saved for future use, and will be listed in the plugin manager.

What We’re Building Next
Among users of the official DeepSeek API, DeepSeek Harness is now the most widely used coding agent by measures including DAU and daily sessions.
In the future, we will continue improving the user experience at every step, from getting started to completing a wide range of tasks. This includes improving sandbox capabilities and security, making agent teams more effective and easier to use, adding personalized long-term memory, enabling automation in browsers and other GUI applications, supporting remote and mobile access, and exploring session sharing and collaboration. We will continue introducing experimental features that people can use when needed, while enabling refined and validated features by default.
DeepSeek Harness will also evolve alongside DeepSeek models. We will continually optimize and adapt DeepSeek Harness for new models, improve models’ real-world performance in DeepSeek Harness through training, and advance model research to support innovative product features.
Third-party plugins are a distinctive and essential part of the DeepSeek Harness experience. Among DeepSeek Harness users who access models through the official API, approximately 60% use third-party plugins.
Therefore, we will continue supporting a thriving third-party plugin ecosystem. We plan to make plugins easier to discover, install, and manage, and build an official plugin marketplace. We will also work toward clearer, more stable plugin APIs, reduce, and wherever possible avoid, breaking changes in future releases, improve forward and backward compatibility, and use a range of technical approaches to reduce the effort required to keep plugins compatible across different versions.
We want to bring AI into more people’s everyday work and lives. We also welcome more plugin developers to join our ecosystem, expand the possibilities of AI, and help shape AI products that are open source, collaborative, reusable, and composable.
