Regarding the recent cheating incidents and our response process, we failed to act swiftly and provide accurate explanations to you, the Commanders. We did not sufficiently explain how reports and appeals were reviewed and processed during the investigation of these fraudulent activities. As the Director, I sincerely apologize for failing to protect your trust in fair competition, causing inconvenience, and disappointing those who waited for a resolution.
Your data reflects long-term growth, research, and countless challenges. If there is doubt that your accumulated efforts could be surpassed by unfair methods, the meaning of competition itself is shaken. Furthermore, if you cannot be sure whether reports are properly verified or if erroneous judgments are corrected, it is difficult to trust and enjoy the game with peace of mind.
This incident is not merely about rankings or rewards. It is an issue where we failed to properly protect the time and effort you have built up, and it raises questions about whether you can trust the operation of Goddess of Victory: NIKKE.
I am responsible for development at SHIFT UP and have focused on guiding the development and content of Goddess of Victory: NIKKE in a better direction. However, just as important as creating better content, I should have paid closer attention to what kind of environment you are playing in and whether issues are being appropriately addressed and resolved when they arise.
Through this incident, I belatedly realized that I must reconsider my role as Director more broadly than ever before. While it seems obvious now, I lacked sufficient consideration for this aspect. For causing anxiety and disappointment among the Commanders, I deeply apologize.
I do not intend to end this reflection on my shortcomings with mere apologies. From the execution to the results of the following measures, I will personally verify them myself, not just for content development but for operational integrity.
First, let me explain the key improvement items.
● We will improve combat logs and verification systems used to detect fraud.
We examined this case in detail and considered multiple technical improvements. Previous verifications were based on records and standards at the time. Currently, while various logs are generated during combat, relying solely on available information requires massive manual review to identify complex anomalies, and the system for proactively detecting such situations was insufficient.
Therefore, we will expand the data recorded in combat logs to effectively identify anomalies using more diverse information and supplement the verification logic utilizing this data. The secured combat logs and verification logic will be used not only for the automated verification system we are strengthening but also for manual verification when additional checks are needed. After comprehensive consideration, we determined that complementing the combat log and verification system is the most critical measure currently needed. We will prioritize this and implement it as soon as possible.
● We will improve the procedures for reports and appeals respectively.
For the in-game reporting function, we will improve the notification method so that you can see that your submission was actually reviewed. When an appeal is accepted, we will further strengthen the manual re-review procedure where staff directly re-check sanction decisions. Additionally, we will increase verification accuracy to ensure normal gameplay is not mistakenly judged as fraud, and correct any erroneous judgments found.
● We will clarify standards and sanction principles regarding fraud.
We will firmly respond to violations that undermine fair competition. We will clearly guide specific violation standards and sanction methods, and strictly take action based on established standards and actual impact when violations are confirmed.
● We will strengthen the cooperation between SHIFT UP and the operations team.
For Commanders, Goddess of Victory: NIKKE is one game and one service. High-quality gaming experience and stable service cannot be achieved by the efforts of one side alone.
Going forward, SHIFT UP will not just support upon request but will proactively check and propose necessary points, providing more active support. Together with Level Infinite's Goddess of Victory: NIKKE operations team, we will carefully review issues and opinions raised through the game, community, and customer support, ensuring that necessary content leads to review and improvement by the development team.
For cases requiring additional confirmation or judgment during operations, both sides will actively share necessary information and discuss together. We will also enhance the development data and technical support SHIFT UP can provide.
The SHIFT UP development team and the Goddess of Victory: NIKKE operations team will maintain a sense of responsibility for building one service together, checking necessary parts within each other's roles, and continuously improving insufficient areas.
Response to fraud is an area that requires continuous improvement. Every time new methods appear, we will increase the accuracy and speed of detection and response, and continuously strengthen the necessary systems.
Detailed violation standards, sanction methods, review procedures after reports and appeals, and current improvement preparations will be explained in more detail in the "Notice on Fraud Response Process and Improvements" published alongside this announcement.
We acknowledge requests to re-verify past competitive records and multiple cases. Based on currently available records, materials, and the importance of the cases, we will continue to verify those deemed to require additional confirmation. We will not exclude issues from verification simply because they occurred in the past.
However, there are limits to re-verifying all competitive content and all cases from the beginning over a long period, so we will continue necessary reviews prioritizing accordingly.
We do not believe that establishing new rules and systems alone will resolve this issue. Ultimately, we must demonstrate through actual operations whether we properly verified issues when they arose, corrected erroneous judgments, and continued to uphold what we communicated today over time.
I do not ask you to trust us again immediately. We will change things one by one in actual operations, ensuring today's words do not remain empty promises. We will do our best so that you can directly feel these changes while playing Goddess of Victory: NIKKE, and rebuild your trust.
