No! It is completely optional.

"Switching is optional. If you don’t switch, your current plan continues unless you change or cancel it."

How Do Chinese Users Pay?
Official Payment Options: The x.ai/pricing page explicitly states—Self-serve plans support all major credit and debit cards (including Visa and Mastercard).
Prices exclude taxes, which are automatically added at checkout. Stripe processors are supported. Apple/Google in-app purchases are also available (if subscribing via App).
