I’ve always been bad at being part of a large, boisterous group.
Back in my student days, I would look at friends who were at the center of the class and think, "I wish I could be like that."
Making lots of friends, talking easily with anyone, expanding the circle of friends further and further...
Every time I saw people like that, I felt like a failure, or I would get impatient and try too hard, only to end up spinning my wheels.
Some of the introverts reading this might relate to that feeling.
But now, I understand.
I simply wasn't that "boisterous, extroverted type" to begin with. I was someone who couldn't become extroverted even if I tried.
For an introverted person to try and build relationships the same way an extrovert does is like telling a right-handed person to "write with your left hand."
It might not be impossible, but it’s incredibly exhausting, and it ends up feeling unnatural and awkward.
What I realized was that "introverts have their own way of building relationships, their own survival strategies, and their own life strategies."
Introverts have specific traits, and there are clear principles that must not be ignored when building relationships.
If you are an introvert, not understanding this "relationship strategy" will suddenly make your daily life and your entire existence much more painful.
Let’s dive straight into the conclusion.
The "Relationship Strategy" for Introverts
It is the style and strategy of "very few people, very deeply."
Not wide and shallow relationships, but narrow and deep ones. Having truly deep connections with just a few important people.
I believe this is the most natural and comfortable way for people like us to exist in relationships.
