MarketCards is a new platform enabling fractional ownership of rare trading cards, launching with 2026 FIFA World Cup collectibles to bridge the gap between elite collectors and everyday investors.

Cards are a rare kind of asset.

They combine scarcity (standardized print runs, condition grades, limited releases), a pricing history (public sales records going back decades), and a global audience (mature collecting and trading cultures across North America, Europe, East Asia, and Latin America).

Over the past thirty years, both the overall size of the category and the prices of individual cards have kept climbing — for the scarcest cards, single-card prices have moved from six figures to seven, and then to eight.

But oddly, this asset class has always been missing one thing: a truly open secondary market that ordinary people can take part in.

Most of the scarcest cards still change hands only among a small circle of collectors, institutions, and private deals. Ordinary investors can neither see the price-discovery process nor find a way in.

MarketCards is a platform built to solve exactly this.

In one sentence: MarketCards lets anyone own a share of a scarce card for $1.

Every card listed has its own market. You can hold your share, buy and sell with other holders on the secondary market, and — where the rules allow — exit your position. This is a complete asset lifecycle, not just a static certificate of ownership.

What this means: for the first time, scarce cards go from "buy the whole thing or have no chance at all" to "participate by the share."

MarketCards' debut product is a collection of star-player cards from the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

There are two reasons for starting here.

First, the World Cup is a global attention window that comes once every four years. Over the coming months, every player who takes the field will be priced in real time and re-evaluated by the market — a scarce event that comes with its own liquidity.

Second, of all card categories, star-player cards are the most widely understood — the scarcity, the story, and the market attention around a real player make consensus easiest to reach across users from different regions and backgrounds.

But the starting point is not the destination. Over the long run, MarketCards will cover every card category with consensus and scarcity — TCG (trading card games), anime cards, and other mainstream card categories built around real or fictional characters.

Two kinds of timing come together in 2026.

On one side is infrastructure: dollar stablecoins led by USDC, along with on-chain settlement tools, are already used daily by millions of people worldwide — making "take part in a scarce asset for $1" truly feasible for the first time.

On the other side is the event: the 2026 FIFA World Cup kicks off in June. It is the world's largest sports attention window, and MarketCards' first release can plug directly into it rather than launching in isolation.

Both falling into place at once is why MarketCards is choosing this moment to formally meet its users.

In the coming days, MarketCards will release the full rules for MintBox — including the players listed, the shares, how to take part, and the time window.
