I finally tried my hand at that AI programming thing everyone's talking about lately. I was feeling a mix of anxiety from social media posts saying "you're in trouble if you're not doing AI coding" and a sense that it might just be FOMO. While feeling restless about this new phase of AI, I spent days without any ideas until I suddenly thought, "Why don't I turn myself into an AI?"
The Mino Music channel I currently run was started in early 2019. I've released about 1,000 videos so far (excluding Shorts). I thought about using these as big data to create a product. YouTube videos have a subtitle feature, and behind that, there's transcript data. In other words, I can train an AI on all my past talks as text. Using seven years of music-related talks as a source, I wanted to create an AI that answers questions by referencing my past statements. That is "AI Mino."
The production period was about two weeks. I refined ideas and direction using Claude's Cowork, then moved to Code, and in the latter half, I had ChatGPT and Claude brainstorm together to improve. Since I know absolutely nothing about coding, I honestly have no real sense that I "developed" something myself.
The current UI looks like this.
It's a design common for search engines. If you throw music-related questions or doubts here, it will answer. Let's try asking, "Tell me about the City Pop revival."
Then it outputs like this.
It sounds somewhat like something I would say. This response outputs an average of what I actually said in the video archives. And I designed the response screen UI to look like YouTube. It's like a mini-YouTube you can enjoy on demand. You can experience a pseudo-video that doesn't actually exist.
I also recreated the comment section. This was a point I was quite particular about; it learned from the comments sent by listeners to Mino Music so far (over 300,000 in total!) and displays an average content based on the topic. Furthermore, below the comments, I picked up several videos actually published on Mino Music as "related videos" that are close to the question content.
I'm making it public now, so please give it a try if you like. You can also post AI Mino's output to social media by tapping the "Share" tab. I'd be happy if you could spread the word! Even mean questions that I would never answer, the AI will answer obediently and faithfully because it's an AI.
There will probably be many strange or incorrect answers, so please don't take the content too seriously. It's just a tool I made for fun.
There might be various troubles after the release, but since I'm a non-engineer and a complete amateur in this field, I would appreciate it if you could watch over it warmly.
As an aside, there's something I thought about while making this. People who continue to publish content online can be turned into AI at any time. By training on published data, you can replicate a personality. It might be difficult with current technology, but in my case, it's not just transcripts; if you include the Charisma Brothers era, thousands of video data points are public. If I trained on all of them, I could probably make an "AI Mino" that actually speaks with video and audio. A replica of me that continues to drift through the sea of electrons might be born someday.
