It works especially well for two kinds of tasks:

  • Recurring work with a relatively fixed process. Weekly cover images, illustrations for a regular column, slide series, or content formatting.
  • Work you're not familiar with or not good at. You need a promotional poster but can't design; you need a product video but can't edit.

When choosing a Skill, check whether it has real examples first, then run it once with an actual task of your own. Whether the result matches your expectations matters more than how much the description promises.

Turn your own method into a Skill

When you've finished a piece of work you're happy with, you can ask the Agent to help you capture the process as a Skill. The rules you'll reuse every time get preserved; the parts that change each time become inputs.

How to Judge Whether a Skill Is Worth Using

A good Skill usually has three traits:

  • A more distinctive result: not generic "hand-drawn illustrations," but illustrations with a clear style, purpose, or layout signature.

Don't rush to cover more scenarios. Solving one real need well is easier to remember than making a similar version of something in a crowded category.

Decide what stays fixed and what the user provides

The basic structure of a Skill comes down to: a fixed method + open inputs.

Lock in the processes, styles, and quality standards that actually determine the outcome — analyze the material first, distill the key points, then output in a specified structure. Leave the things that change every time — topic, materials, audience, purpose — for the user to fill in. That way, a user can switch topics and still get consistent results, without having to relearn how to write prompts.

If an image or video is itself part of the method, keep it as reference material — don't just describe it in words. Visual information like color, composition, texture, and pacing is easily lost in translation to text.

Test with ordinary users' input

Don't validate your Skill only with the materials you know best and have most complete. Try different topics, and try inputs that are incomplete or unpolished, to see whether users can still get the task done.

Watch three things when testing: do users know what to provide, do they frequently need extra explanation along the way, and does the final result come close to the examples you show. If every run depends on you stepping in to adjust the prompt, the method hasn't truly been captured yet.

Treat the marketplace page as your Skill's storefront

Before users ever see the internal process, they can only judge whether a Skill is worth using from its title, subtitle, description, cover, and examples. These aren't packaging added after launch — they're part of the Skill itself.

The title should state the result first, and sound good second. A formula that works well for beginners is "result + category + audience or scenario," for example "Interview-to-Article | Long-interview editing Skill for content editors." You don't have to force all three parts in, but users should at least understand what it produces and what kind of task it handles. An artistic or abstract name can stay as a brand name, but it shouldn't replace the statement of purpose.

The subtitle answers "why should I use this." One sentence covering the use case and the main pain point, such as "Turn recordings and notes into a complete article." Don't pile features here — save the details for the full description.

The description fills in what happens before and after use. For beginners, four things are enough: who it's for, what to provide, how the Skill processes it, and what you get at the end. If there are cases it's not suited for, say so up front, so users don't start with the wrong expectations.

The cover and examples show the result directly. An image Skill shows real generated images; a slides Skill shows a full page set; a video Skill shows playable clips; a writing Skill can show a representative excerpt of a finished piece. The title determines whether users can find you; the cover and examples help them decide whether to click in and whether to trust the results.

Think about pricing last

For your first Skill, focus on completeness and real feedback. Whether and how much to charge should reflect the time it saves, the stability of its results, its range of use, and the effort you put into testing and maintenance. Free doesn't mean maintenance-free, and paid can't rely on a high price alone to signal expertise. Clear explanations, credible examples, and stable results are what users actually use to judge value.

Good Case: showing the video output directly


Let the output speak for itself. A clear title paired with two video examples of different products lets users understand the content type, use case, and final effect — no long explanation needed.


Bad Case: no actual webpage output shown


A lot of words, but no answer to why users need it. An abstract title, decorative images, and dense parameters can't replace an actual webpage example. After reading everything, users still don't know what problem it solves.


Bad Case: information overload buries the core purpose


Heavily packaged, but the actual capability is impossible to judge. A broad title and a noisy cover show no real writing output. For a writing Skill, one representative piece of output is usually more convincing than a "capability overview" graphic.
