——An episode shortly after Shiina Kuze joined EXCEEDS——
It was shortly after I, Shiina Kuze, started working as an extermination squad member for the UN Research Agency.
First, I was issued the 'Activity Suit,' a blue jacket (the same one Nano-chan and Fate-chan wear).
That thing is amazing. It's light, sturdy, and even has air conditioning!
Next, I was given my current beloved gun, the Anti-Invasion Heat Gun 'Revolta.' It's the one that charges my flames and turns them into bullets.
Being able to bring it in and out with the voice command 'Gun Set' is super convenient. Magic is incredible.
Revolta is used for 'accurate rapid-fire/continuous fire' and long-range attacks.
My maximum firepower comes from contact with my limbs or fireballs I create myself.
To release that at full power safely, I needed a control suit, so they made one for me.
'Shiina-san's protective suit absolutely, POSITIVELY must have this design!'
...My middle-school colleague (a magical girl) was really persistent about it.
'Listen, Nano-chan. I'm perfectly happy with this rugged design...'
One of the designs sent by the Equipment Development Department was like an improved version of the standard EXCEEDS combat uniform. It was rugged but looked easy to move in and was generally cool.
The other was like Nano-chan and the others' 'Barrier Jacket.' How should I put it... it was cute. But I didn't think it would suit me at all.
Since Nano-chan wouldn't back down, I gave in a little, and the result was a sort of compromise between the two: the 'Heat Control Protective Suit S1' I'm wearing now.
S1 stands for 'Shiina's Ver. 1.' Simple.
Once I actually wore it, I understood what Nano-chan meant. The parts where her suggestions were adopted (mainly the upper body) have an incredible 'feeling of being supported' and a 'feeling of being able to keep energy inside.'
She was acting all proud, like 'See? (Ehen!)'
But the mobility and sturdiness of my proposal (mainly the lower body) are still excellent, so I think we achieved the best balance!
I even had thrusters attached to the back and shoes, so my flight capability and propulsion have exploded!
