Recently, I connected Grok Bot to my WeChat, allowing me to easily command my Grok bot army right from the app!

Many people are curious about how I integrated Grok Bot into WeChat.
Today, I've decided to share this comprehensive beginner's guide, holding nothing back!!
In summary, it takes just three steps: send my detailed prompt (the "secret recipe") to Grok Bot, establish the WeChat channel, copy two pieces of information for it, and finally scan a QR code with WeChat to complete the binding.

Without further ado, let's get started!
A Brief Introduction to What Grok Bot Is
If you're already familiar with Grok bot, feel free to skip this section and go straight to the next one.
Grok bot is a general-purpose Agent product officially launched by SpaceXAI after Elon Musk acquired Cursor.
Within Grok bot, you can build Bots (Agents) for different roles and functions, such as an Engineer Bot, Product Manager Bot, Growth Expert Bot, Video Editor Bot, Financial Controller Bot, etc.
Unlike other Agents such as Codex/Claude Code/Cursor, Grok bot has its own cloud computer that is online 24/7. It's like having a team of AI digital employees working around the clock. Even if you close your laptop or turn off your phone, the Agents continue to work hard for you.
To use a simple analogy, it's like a "Super Ultimate Enhanced Crayfish," but more powerful, and you no longer need a local computer running!
How to Connect Grok Bot to WeChat? A Step-by-Step Guide in Three Parts
Why connect Grok bot to WeChat? The reason is simple...
After all, WeChat is what most people open every day. Especially for friends in China, it's the most commonly used chat entry point and the platform that best fits our social and chatting habits.
To bridge them, you only need to do the following three steps.
Step 1: Send My "Secret Recipe" Prompt to Grok Bot and Let It Set Up the WeChat Channel
What this step does: Tell Grok Bot you want to connect to WeChat. Let it figure out the specifics on its own.
Open Grok bot on your computer, find your main BOT, and copy the entire "secret recipe" prompt below exactly as written:
—— Start of Secret Recipe Prompt ——
I want to connect you to my WeChat so I can send messages directly to you and receive replies there. Please follow these steps, reporting results after each one and pausing when my action is required.
- Research the solution first: Tencent's "WeChat ClawBot" plugin uses the iLink interface (ilinkai.weixin.qq.com). Confirm how to use
getupdateslong-polling to receive messages andsendmessageto reply. The program should only make outbound requests; do not open public ports.
- Create a webhook-triggered routine in Grok Bot named "WeChat Command Entry." Once created, tell me to copy the Webhook URL and key from the routine panel, then pop up an encrypted dialog for me to fill in. Do not ask me to paste plaintext in the chat.
- Write a small forwarding program on your cloud computer: When it receives a WeChat message, POST it to this routine. After processing, use a reply script to send the response back to WeChat, while also syncing a copy in our main chat.
- Wait until I enable the ClawBot plugin in mobile WeChat, then generate a QR code for me to scan and confirm. Also provide a backup link that can be opened directly in WeChat. The QR code is valid for about 5 minutes.
- After successful binding, remind me to send a message in the ClawBot conversation first, because replies require the
context_tokencarried by that initial message.
- Rules: Only recognize this bound user; ignore messages from others. All replies must be plain text, not Markdown, because WeChat doesn't render Markdown.
- Finally, tell me: How to restart the forwarding program after the cloud computer reboots; if error code -14 (credential expired) occurs, remind me to rescan.
—— End of Secret Recipe Prompt ——
Once sent, Grok Bot will research and execute on its own, initiating the Grok Bot x WeChat integration plan.

Step 2: Copy the Two Items It Requests to Provide a Dedicated Key for the WeChat Channel
Then, Grok Bot will set up the "WeChat Command Entry" channel and remind you to retrieve two items for it.
Your task: Click Grok Bot's avatar, open Details -> Routine Panel on the right, find "WeChat Command Entry," and copy its Webhook URL and key separately. The URL is the address, and the key is the password.

Grok Bot will pop up an encrypted dialog. Paste the copied URL and key into their respective fields and submit. The Grok bot interface will display "Securely saved and kept private."

Explanation of this step: Grok Bot opens a separate entry point for WeChat messages called "WeChat Command Entry." You give it the address and key for this entry so it knows where to send incoming messages from WeChat and how to authenticate them.

Step 3: Scan the QR Code with WeChat to Bind Your Account to Grok Bot
If the first two steps paved the way on the Grok Bot side, the final step brings us back to the phone to connect your WeChat to this path.
Step 3 consists of three sub-actions: Enable the plugin, scan the code, and send the first message.
3.1 Check WeChat version and enable the plugin.
Check your WeChat version: iOS requires 8.0.70 or higher, Android requires 8.0.69 or higher.
If the version is sufficient, open WeChat, tap "Me" in the bottom right, then "Settings," and then "Plugins."
Find the red crayfish icon named "WeChat ClawBot," tap it, and enable it.

3.2 Return to the Grok Bot interface and tell it "Plugin enabled." It will provide a QR code.
Open "Scan" in mobile WeChat, aim at the QR code, and confirm on your phone.
If scanning is inconvenient, Grok Bot also provides a backup link that can be opened directly in WeChat for binding.

Finally, proactively send the first message.
After binding, open the ClawBot conversation in WeChat and send any message to it.
Why must you speak first? Grok Bot needs to receive your initial message to know where to reply. Once sent, normal chatting begins.
Success indicators: You receive a Grok Bot reply in the ClawBot conversation. Opening the main Grok Bot chat shows a synced copy of the WeChat conversation.

Real-World Test Results
After connection, my first message in WeChat was: "Hello, are you Grok bot?" It replied instantly.
Next, I asked it to report topics and links from a Twitter operations expert Bot I had built in Grok bot, and it successfully returned the answers.

I also tried asking it to transcribe the script of a Douyin video via WeChat, and Grok bot quickly sent back the full video transcript. (Because I had previously built a "Download Expert" BOT in Grok bot with features for downloading Douyin videos and transcribing scripts.)

A Few Friendly Reminders
- The QR code for connecting to WeChat is valid for about 5 minutes. Scan it immediately upon receipt. If there's no response for a long time or it says login expired, ask Grok Bot to regenerate the QR code and scan again.
- Sometimes Grok bot's cloud computer may reboot. After a reboot, ask Grok Bot to restart the forwarding mini-program.
- Do not connect other OpenClaws to the same WeChat account simultaneously, otherwise messages will be split.
Will This Connection Get My WeChat Account Banned?
No, you can use it with confidence.
This method uses the official WeChat ClawBot interface (iLink). We are simply using it reasonably to allow you to command Grok Bot within WeChat, which constitutes normal usage.
In summary, if you want to connect Grok to your WeChat, what you need to do manually is:
Send my secret recipe, copy the two items, and scan the QR code.
