In the past, making videos required finding materials, learning editing, and matching music, which involved extremely high costs. Now with AI, as long as you use the Codex + HyperFrames combination well, basic editing and animation can be completed in just 1 hour. In this article, I will combine my own practical experience to share the core techniques of using Codex + HyperFrames to create videos, helping every self-media creator achieve video editing freedom. ## 1. What is HyperFrames? Why use it? HyperFrames is a code-driven video production framework open-sourced by @HeyGen. With it, you don't need to open any editing software; you can generate videos directly by writing code. !Image Why is it particularly suitable to pair with Codex? Two reasons: 1. Writing code is what AI Agents are best at, and Codex is currently a T0-level super tool. You just describe the visuals you want, and leave the coding to it. 2. HyperFrames is written directly in HTML, naturally designed for Agents. AI writes HTML more smoothly than any other format, with fewer errors and faster iterations. Therefore, this combination is born for video creation. You describe the desired visuals clearly, Codex is responsible for writing the code, and HyperFrames renders the final video. ## 2. How to Configure HyperFrames in Codex The basic installation and configuration steps are as follows: 1. Install Codex App Download address: https://chatgpt.com/codex/ 2. Install HyperFrames plugin Enter the Codex App and click Plugins in the left sidebar. !Image Search for HyperFrames and click the "+" sign to add it. !Image Now, you can start using HyperFrames features for video creation within Codex. ## 3. Practical Techniques After configuration, how do you use it in practice? Here are three video production tips. 1. Prompts: Describe the desired visuals clearly, the more specific the better The core of a good prompt is translating the detailed images in your mind into words. Specifically, write down the following: - Animation/Video Type: Function demo, data visualization, launch event teaser, social media short, etc. - Duration and Aspect Ratio: e.g., 10 seconds, 9:16 Douyin format, etc. - Video Goal: One sentence explaining what this video is about and what the audience should understand. - Visual Style: e.g., Apple style, realistic software interface, minimalist tech, cinematic, etc. - Key Elements: Essential text, icons, products, data, characters, material paths, etc. - Motion Requirements: e.g., streaming typing, fade in/out, zoom transitions, card expansion, camera push-in, etc. - Audio Requirements: e.g., background music, typing sounds, click sounds, narration, sound effect synchronization, etc. For example, here is the prompt I used when making an opening for a video about the evolution of the iPhone: ``plaintext Use [@HyperFrames] to create an opening animation that illustrates "Codex calling HyperFrames to generate a video," default aspect ratio, duration no more than 10s. #AnimationType + Duration Goal is to show the process of "I am using HyperFrames in Codex to generate a video." #VideoGoal The scene starts from a realistic Codex dark-themed chat homepage, with "What should we work on?" in the center and a large input box below. In the input box, text starts streaming in like a real person typing: "Help me use HyperFrames by HeyGen to create a display animation of iPhone models through the generations." The "HyperFrames by HeyGen" part should appear like a plugin mention/chip with a small icon, clearly distinguished from regular text. #KeyElements + Motion After typing is complete, click send to enter the generation state: the Codex icon × HyperFrames icon appears in the center, with "GENERATING..." displayed below. This stage should have slight generation animations, like icons breathing, jumping, or vibrating, with dots flashing, but the overall feel should be restrained and product-like. #KeyElements + Motion Once generation is complete, return to the Codex chat interface where a video preview card appears. The card cover is an Apple-style dark product preview with an Apple logo and a play button in the center. After clicking the play button, the video card smoothly expands to full screen, like a formal video being opened, serving as a transition into the subsequent video. #KeyElements + Motion The overall style should be realistic, restrained, and high-end, close to real Codex product interfaces and software operation shots in Apple launch films. Use smooth fade in / fade out for interface switches; all motion should be clean, crisp, and natural. #VisualStyle Please implement using HyperFrames and ensure it can be stably rendered as an MP4. Typing, clicking, and generating sounds should be integrated as real audio tracks, not just browser real-time sound effects. #AudioRequirements ` Of course, the first version likely won't be perfect; we can just tell the Agent what to change. Note not to make too many changes at once, preview promptly after changes, and continue fine-tuning if unsatisfied. When necessary, take a screenshot and mark the problem areas directly on the image, which is much more efficient than text feedback. **2. Image Generation: Use Image Gen skill to create key assets** Making videos usually involves spending a lot of time preparing visual assets—product photos, cover images, keyframes, etc. Codex has built-in GPT Image 2, allowing you to generate the assets you need directly within the project with exquisite effects and controllable styles. Trigger method: Enter [$image-gen](https://x.com/search?q=%24image-gen&src=cashtag_click) For example: Use [$image-gen](https://x.com/search?q=%24image-gen&src=cashtag_click) gpt image 2 to help me generate a front and back view of the original iPhone respectively, referring to official mobile phone material, simulating the real phone as much as possible. Note that the images should preferably be transparent so they can be easily integrated into any background. **3. Music Generation: Use AI to generate background music directly** Once the video is done, how do you solve the music part? I recommend Suno ([suno.com](//suno.com)), an AI music generation site that offers free daily credits and provides two different versions per generation with good overall quality. It's suggested to specify the desired style and mood in the prompt, such as "rhythmic, epic, no vocals." Example: `plaintext Modern movie trailer style, starting with crisp and sharp percussion (snaps, claps), paired with a minimalist piano melody, gradually adding electronic bass and layered rhythms. The chorus uses synthesizer chords to push forward layer by layer, and the climax adds full orchestral impact and driving rhythms. The overall texture is high-end and clean, similar to the energy of an Apple launch event, 118 BPM, instrumental with no vocals. `` !https://pbs.twimg.com/amplify_video_thumb/2051612857519738889/img/VhmZWed-aIZObqWb.jpg Below is the complete video of the iPhone evolution I made using Codex + HyperFrames; from materials and visuals to music, it was done in 1 hour. The threshold for video editing has been significantly lowered by AI. If you have ideas, go try it; hand-crafting videos with code is truly satisfying.
