What’s been missing for Ethereum to date is a neutral counterpart on the other side of the table: a guide that convenes the full ecosystem around shared standards, connects institutions within the ecosystem to solutions / infrastructure providers and applications, and removes integration friction, from first pilot through scaled production.
Ethereum Institutional’s neutrality, independence and commitment to Ethereum as the settlement layer is the point.
Because the organization isn’t selling a proprietary chain, wallet, or private stack, the team can give decision‑makers a straight answer and carry their real requirements into the ecosystem - from base‑layer protocol work to L2s, infrastructure providers, and applications. The institution gets represented, specialized teams get connected, and the ecosystem gets a direct line to real demand, helping ensure that what ships is what institutions are ready to adopt.
Our work is to move institutional teams from interest to build-ready. Day-one priorities span five core areas:
→ Engagement & orientation: Work with FIs to advance tokenization, stablecoins, and on-chain market structure on Ethereum and the broader ecosystem.
→ Research & intelligence: Provide authoritative and neutral research on ecosystem capabilities, helping institutions understand Ethereum, evaluate network trajectory, and make informed decisions about building on the network.
→ ETH & ecosystem marketing: Position $ETH as core infrastructure. Amplify credible examples of real deployments to expand Ethereum’s presence, increasing institutional confidence in building on the protocol.
→ Industry discovery & requirements: Surface institutional needs and deliver structured feedback to product R&D, supporting shared integration standards to build a better foundational market structure, and aligning practitioners to de-risk adoption roadmaps.
→ Events: Gather financial leaders and ecosystem builders on neutral ground to build strong development networks via institutional events and convenings. Align strategic priorities, resolve technical challenges, and coordinate solutions that drive new deployments.
This work is kicked off by a team already driving network adoption at an institutional scale. Ethereum Institutional’s founders built and ran the Ethereum Foundation's first enterprise function, engaging hundreds of institutions across banking, asset management, and market infrastructure. As institutional adoption has accelerated to the point that dedicated support is required, we're carrying that work, and those relationships, forward as an independent entity.
Ethereum is decentralizing at the social layer, not only the protocol. The Foundation is becoming one node among many, and we're glad to take our place alongside our friends at @ethlabs_org, @Etherealize_io and the many teams already doing great work in the Ethereum ecosystem.
The protocol is ready for this moment. The strawmap charts a coherent path for the L1 and ecosystem. Faster finality, native privacy, greater scale and quantum resistance are in scope. The researchers and client teams executing against it are delivering. But Ethereum’s real advantage isn’t any single upgrade. It’s the neutral base layer beneath them all. That’s what institutions are ultimately adopting, and they understand that. We look forward to keeping that work close with our former colleagues at @etherumfndn.
