TL;DR

This guide outlines a strategic approach to crypto investing, prioritizing Bitcoin for market understanding before exploring AI infrastructure and warning against the high risks of meme coins.

Most people enter crypto looking for the next 100x. They scroll through X, find a coin trending, buy the top, and wonder what happened two weeks later.

There is a better order of operations. One that keeps you in the game long enough to actually benefit from what the market offers.

Start with Bitcoin

Bitcoin is the reserve asset of crypto. It is the most liquid, the most researched, and the most institutionally held asset in the space. Before you touch anything else, understand Bitcoin first.

How does it move? How does it react to macro conditions? How does it behave around halving cycles? What is its relationship to altcoin performance?

If you cannot read Bitcoin, you cannot read the crypto market. Everything else is priced relative to it.

Most people skip this step. They find it boring. Then they lose money on altcoins they do not understand, in a market they cannot read.

Learn about AI coins (real projects)

Once you understand Bitcoin, the next layer worth studying is the AI sector. Not because AI is a trend, but because it represents real infrastructure being built. Protocols with actual use cases, developer activity, and institutional interest.

The distinction that matters here is between projects building something and projects selling a narrative. Ticker symbols and branding are not due diligence. Look at the team, the product, the on-chain activity, the token economics.

A real project can survive a bear market. A narrative cannot.

This sector carries more risk than Bitcoin. Positions should reflect that. Smaller size. More patience. Longer time horizons.

Meme coins (if you are willing to lose it all)

Meme coins exist. Some have produced extraordinary returns. Most have produced extraordinary losses. The people you see posting gains are a small fraction of the people who entered.

If you choose to participate: size it as money you are fully prepared to lose. Not money you can afford to lose. Money you expect to lose. That is the only mentally honest way to engage with this part of the market.

If possible, avoid memes entirely (my opinion). The expected value for most participants is negative.

The real goal

Most people enter crypto asking the wrong question.

They ask:** how do I find the next 100x?**

The right question is: how do I stay in the game long enough for the market to give me real opportunities?

You cannot benefit from a bull market you did not survive to see. Preservation of capital is not a conservative strategy. It is the prerequisite for everything else.

The traders and investors who compound over time are not the ones who found the best coin. They are the ones who made fewer catastrophic mistakes. They protected their downside, stayed liquid, and were positioned when opportunity appeared.

That is the edge. Not coin selection. Longevity.

The market will always offer opportunities. The only question is whether you will be positioned to take them.
