Why it works
Titles that fit the video you made
Written from your video
Titles only use what you describe, so they don't promise numbers, guests or results the video doesn't deliver.
Five angles to compare
Get search, curiosity, how-to, list and story titles side by side, two of each, and pick the one that suits the video.
Within YouTube's limit
Every title stays within 100 characters and leaves out the < and > characters YouTube doesn't accept.
Title checker
Check a title before you publish
Paste any title to count its characters against YouTube's 100-character limit and catch characters YouTube won't accept.
Limits from YouTube Help and the YouTube Data API.
Paste a title to check it.
- Up to 100 characters
The limit YouTube sets for video titles.
- No < or > characters
YouTube doesn't accept these two characters in a title.
- Keyword in the first half
A tip rather than a rule: the first words matter most when a title is cut short.
On a video card
Counts here follow how browsers count characters. YouTube Studio's own counter has the final say, especially for emoji.

How it works
Write a YouTube title in three steps
Describe your video
Say what happens in the video and who it's for. Add a main keyword if you're targeting one, and choose Video or Shorts.
Compare the angles
Read the titles side by side and preview each one on a video card. Every title shows its character count.
Paste it into YouTube Studio
Copy your favorite and paste it into the Title field when you upload, or update the title of a video you've already published.
YouTube title FAQ
How long can a YouTube title be?
Up to 100 characters. Long titles can be cut off in search results and on phones, so put the most important words first. This generator keeps every title within the limit.
What makes a good YouTube title?
It tells viewers what they'll get, uses the words they would search for and matches the video and thumbnail. Clear usually beats clever, and the main topic should come first.
Should I put keywords in my YouTube title?
Yes, when they describe the video. Use the phrase your viewers would search for, near the start of the title and only once. Packing in several keywords makes a title harder to read.
How do I write a catchy title without clickbait?
Make a promise the video keeps. Curiosity and story titles can raise a question as long as the video answers it. This generator only uses what you describe, so it won't invent results.
Are titles for Shorts different?
Shorts appear in a vertical feed where less of the title shows, so it helps to keep them short and direct. Choose Shorts in the generator to get tighter titles.
Can I use emoji or hashtags in a YouTube title?
YouTube allows them, but this generator leaves them out so the words stay clear. You can add an emoji or hashtag yourself after you pick a title.
Can I change a video title after publishing?
Yes. Open the video in YouTube Studio, edit the title under Details and save.
Does it write titles in other languages?
Yes. Titles are written in the language you use to describe the video, so describe it in Spanish to get Spanish titles.
Is this YouTube title generator free?
Yes. You can generate titles without signing up, up to a daily limit. To keep going, continue in YouMind.
