TL;DR

The author argues that immersion in a hobby or task is essential for mental health, as it allows us to escape self-consciousness and recharge from the weight of daily life.

I believe that people don't get truly tired when they are busy.

I think the deep exhaustion comes from thinking about yourself constantly without having time to forget yourself.

People become weak when they focus too much on themselves. Am I doing well? Where am I headed? These questions are important, but if you face them constantly, you end up just circling around yourself while thinking you're contemplating.

That's why I think we need something to be immersed in. When you are immersed, you can detach from yourself. Devoting yourself to something is not just for self-improvement, but also an act to peel off the consciousness that is too stuck to yourself.

People who are energetic even when busy aren't just physically strong; it's because they have a place where they can forget themselves, separate from work and daily life. People who have such time don't have to bear the full weight of daily life.

Immersion is the fuel to temporarily erase yourself and then come back.

When you are absorbed in something, you can escape reality, and because of that time, you can return to reality again. In the end, I think humans are creatures that continue to seek something to devote themselves to, no matter how much time passes.

A life without something to be immersed in is not so much boring as it is a life with no place to escape from oneself.

I believe that what enriches daily life is having one thing you can get so absorbed in that you forget yourself.

Immersion is not a luxury for those with spare time, but a necessary refuge for living.
